  • Cherbourg

I like to paint French scenes like a lot of people I have visited many beautiful places in France. šŸ‡«šŸ‡· Last year we had a few visits to France’ staying in Cherbourg a fascinating city.In terms of its great port, umbrella museum and good bars. The art museum is well worth a visit. I do intend to paint my version of the photograph I took below during April 2025.https://www.cherbourg.fr/culture-et-loisirs/musees/musee-thomas-henry/

  • Yellow House

    Yellow House( 2025)

this painting was originally just a field of random colours.The. I remembered reading as a child a book about a man who repainted his house a different colour for every season.Ut gave me the idea for the ā€œYellow Houseā€ obviously representing summer. The painting is acrylic on paper A4 size.

  • Les Parasols de Normandie(2025)

This artwork was painted after several holidays to Normandy and Brittany last year. I adore the brightly coloured beach parasols. I designed my own type of parasol I particularly like the purple stripped one. It’s a shame they have never caught on in UK. The picture also has my husband myself and our large black cat Sidney. The painting has been used for invitations.

  • Exeter Cathedral Visit

Exeter is a city I have worked in before I retired so I know it reasonably well. Earlier in the week I decided to have a in-depth visit to the cathedral. I wasn’t disappointed. The colours, history and stonework is an artwork that is difficult to capture. when I am brave enough I will attempt a painting of this photograph

  • Bin or not to bin!

Bin or not to bin that is the question

I often have no clear objective in terms of subject matter sometimes I am desperate to paint a scene or object.

More often than not I manage to achieve a painting but sometimes I am really not sure if a painting would be more suited to the bin ! This painting of the coast path is a such a painting. Regardless I am putting it to one side and considering my options.

After consulting with my mother I have figured out a way to alter the finger post so watch this space.

  • Beate’s Spring (2026)

This painting is an early birthday present to my lovely friend from Hamburg. The bright blue is a keen spring colour. I liked the idea of the vase and flowers captured in a box. I hope Beate likes it .

    img_3043/

There is real pleasure in painting flowers and old fashioned vases. Its a free movement just picking colours in the moment then just throwing shapes at the paper. With no set plan. I like the contrasting colours in this painting.Acrylic on paper. If you would like to see more of my artwork/pictures visit : www.art-a-moi.com

  • Lazy Sunday Sea

I like painting many different scenes, flowers and animals. I am acrylic painter but this recent picture is quite a stripped back painting for me almost looks like a watercolour artwork.I am leaving it as it is despite being encouraged to put boats or birds in the scene. I like the simplicity of the scene. Wide open spaces promote tranquility.

Where is it ? Well that is a good question I will let you decide. Uk south coast or maybe somewhere in France? šŸ‡«šŸ‡· Painted on canvas with acrylic paint.

  • Russell-Cotes Museum and Art Gallery

I visited the Russell Cotes Museum and Art Gallery in Bournemouth. My favourite museum and art gallery in Dorset. So many paintings to love but this time the ā€œA Lions Headā€ by Haywood Hardy (1842-1933) also caught my attention. Oil on canvas.

I love the directness but at the same time the soft vulnerability portrayed in the use of brush strokes and colour palette. A soft feeling comes out of the painting giving a strong presence.
