I visited the Russell Cotes Museum and Art Gallery in Bournemouth. My favourite museum and art gallery in Dorset. So many paintings to love but this time the “A Lions Head” by Haywood Hardy (1842-1933) also caught my attention. Oil on canvas.
I love the directness but at the same time the soft vulnerability portrayed in the use of brush strokes and colour palette. A soft feeling comes out of the painting giving a strong presence.
